On Wednesday February 22, two Senior Vice Presidents of The Estée Lauder Companies came to Bryn Mawr to speak to students about branding ourselves for our careers and life. The event was well attended by close to 45 students eager to learn about networking and women in business. Continue reading

SLAC Recruitment Day, Part 2: NYC
SLAC Interviews continued on Monday, January 9th in New York City at Baruch College’s Conference Center. I had two interviews scheduled and planned on picking up more interviews, but the other employers did not interest me or I was not selected as an alternate. Attending an event like this the second time around with my D.C. experience still fresh in my head made me less nervous and ready to put myself out there. Continue reading
SLAC Recruitment Day, Part 1: D.C.
With a little luck submitting job applications and generous funding from LILAC/CPD, I had the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. for job interviews at the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium (SLAC) Job Recruitment Day on Friday, January 6th. These were my first in-person formal job interviews, and I enjoyed the excitement of making good first impressions, envisioning my post-grad life, and exploring a small section of my nation’s capital.

In The Swing Of Things
Yesterday was Fall Frolic, which means it’s time for student clubs and activities (and academic work) to get in full swing. This was actually the first time since my first year at Bryn Mawr that I didn’t have to table for a club. In the past, I have tabled for both the Asian Students Association and for Choom Boom K-Pop Dance Club. This time, I walked by the club booths and ate the brownies served by Erdman. Signing up for a student club is an excellent way to meet new friends and explore new hobbies. Although I didn’t sign up for many new clubs because of time constraints, I couldn’t wait to see who would join clubs I was already part of. (If you missed Fall Frolic, you can join club listservs here.)
External Review on Health Professions Advising
Yesterday, I was invited to an external review session on Bryn Mawr’s Health Professions Advising. Bryn Mawr undergraduates of all different years, but mostly seniors, took this opportunity to provide feedback on what they do or do not like about our pre-health advising system. The external review board was made up of health professions advisors from other schools such as Tufts, Wesleyan, Colgate, and Johns Hopkins. They wrote down notes on our comments to provide constructive recommendations for the Bryn Mawr Health Professions Advising. Every department at Bryn Mawr goes through an external review every 10 years. Continue reading
Do You Believe in the MBTI?
Recently, I’ve been reading up a lot on Myers Briggs type indicators. I took the personality test at the Bryn Mawr College Career and Professional Development (CPD) last year (along with the Strengths and Interests Tests) just out of curiosity. I was feeling lost in my career path and didn’t know where to start. It was around this time that I decided the pre-med track wasn’t for me. Taking the personality and career tests, along with the advice from CPD counselors, was the official “go ahead” to explore other options and know a bit more about myself.
