NYSDOH AIDS Institute Panel

On Wednesday April 12, Dr. Bruce Agins (HC’75) and 4 of his current interns (all recent Haverford alums) came to Haverford to present on some of their work at the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute based in New York City. I was a Bi-Co extern at the AIDS Institute two years ago, so of course I attended the panel. I am also interested in public health and policy and would love to work at the AIDS Institute if granted the opportunity. Continue reading

Lunch with the New CPGC Interns

It’s that time of year. The time to lock in those summer internships (well, jobs for seniors like me). Haverford’s Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC) just hosted their annual new interns orientation retreat this weekend. New interns discuss potential ethical dilemmas of their work and problem solving skills they could utilize. I was invited back to talk to the new interns who are doing the same program I did last summer in China with Amity Foundation.  Continue reading

Choom Boom Showcase

Also on Saturday March 18 was Choom Boom’s first showcase. I have been a part of the Bi-Co’s one and only K-Pop dance club since my first year, and it’s amazing to see how far we have come as a group. Having our own showcase was only just a dream maybe 2 years ago. As more students joined the club, we gained more establishment as a dance group.

*Can you spot me? Hint: I curled my hair and I’m wearing black shorts.

Haverford Public Policy Forum

On Saturday March 18, Haverford’s Center for Peace and Global Citizenship hosted their annual Public Policy Forum. The day-long event is a space for students to interact with Bi-Co alum working in various public policy fields ranging from education, law, foreign policy, to health and environment. I attended last year’s forum and was happy to return again this year.

FUCS: Rico Nasty // Eu1ogy

To round off my weekend of fun before Sunday’s homework duties call me, I went to the FUCS show at Haverford on Saturday night. The performers were Eu1ogy and Rico Nasty, both up and coming artists whom I have never heard of before. This was the first FUCS show of the Spring semester, and I was glad I made it out to enjoy my numbered free college concerts before I graduate. Continue reading

The Last Snowball

I am really not much of a “party-er,” but when it comes to making the most of senior year, that includes attending my last college parties. On Saturday December 2nd, Haverford hosted their annual Snowball, an end of the semester semiformal. The party is usually held in the Dining Center, but this year it was held in Founders. This weekend was already a pretty busy weekend with Senior Cocktails, FUCS, Performing Arts Series, and looming finals, but my friends and I made it out to Founders dressed in fancy dresses ready for the photo opportunities and the chicken tenders (and maybe some dancing and a little extra).

FUCS Show: Screaming Females

Also on Friday December 2nd was the last Haverford Fords United Concert Series (FUCS) show of the year. The lineup featured Mannequin Pussy and Screaming Females and was held in Lunt basement. Joy and I attended the Bryn Mawr Senior Cocktails before going to FUCS, so we missed Mannequin Pussy’s performance. We did manage to catch and stay for the entire Screaming Females set.15349744_10155137377037923_619845800529365374_n Continue reading

Fall Student Dance Concert 2016

This weekend, I performed in my last Fall Student Dance Concert (FSDC) of my undergraduate career. Although I was only in one dance piece, the night was memorable and I will miss being a part of such an inclusive dance community. The best part about FSDC is the variety and depth of talent in the Bi-Co student choreography and dancing. Independent choreographers and dance clubs always bring their all for a packed audience in Marshall Auditorium. I performed in a Choom Boom K-Pop G-Friend medley of Navillera and Rough. 15032901_10155102627567923_8892304367301927142_n Continue reading

NPR Ask Me Another at Haverford College

NPR listeners and fans in the Bi-Co gathered this Friday night November 4th at Haverford’s Marshall Auditorium for the first collegiate taping of the popular trivia game show Ask Me Another. The show was hosted by NPR’s Ophira Eisenberg, Jonathon Coulton, and Art Chung and featured four Haverford student contestants, with guest appearances by Eugene Mirman of Bob’s Burgers and the inventor of the Choco Taco Alan Drazen. This event was brought to Haverford College by the Haverford Speakers Committee and was free and open to the public.FullSizeRender 3 Continue reading

CPGC Post-Internship Dinner

On Thursday night, I attended the Haverford College CPGC Post-Internship Dinner to discuss my final reflections on my summer in China and to listen to others share their summer experiences. There were about 40 of us Bi-Co interns and Haverford House Fellows who spent their summers volunteering in the USA and abroad in over 8 different countries. Over a pizza and brownies dinner, we discussed instances where we felt we did good, where we felt privileged, lonely, happy, etc.unnamed
