I ended my Saturday night with a f u c s show in Haverford’s Lunt Basement featuring eskimeaux and Animals Maps. I had found out about the concert from a f u c s poster in New Dorm Dining Hall and was immediately excited because I had actually heard of eskimeaux before! (f u c s usually brings in super indie bands I’ve never heard of before.) Continue reading

BMCS Gallant // Javelin // Lauv Concert
This Friday night was the Bryn Mawr Concert Series concert of the semester! Instead of our usual 2 concerts per semester, we did one big concert. Gallant won our voting survey for the main act, Sydney and Ann (2 BMCS committee members) chose Lauv, and I chose Javelin as the other acts.
Here’s a recap of the night: Continue reading
Bi-Co Fall Student Dance Concert
Last night was the Bi-Co Fall Student Dance Concert, and I could not be more proud of all the talented dancers/choreographers/lighting/sound/stage managers and thankful for the support of the audience. According to the co-directors Joy and Kyra, this show had the most pieces, the most variety, and the biggest crowd yet (even the balcony was filled!).
Bi-Co Orchestra Concert
Tonight was the Bi-Co Orchestra Concert. The orchestra, conducted by Professor Heidi Jacob, played Overture to L’italiana in Algeri by Gioachiono Rossini (1792 – 1868), Lyric for Strings (1946) by George Walker (b. 1922), and Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op. 21 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827). POLL CLOSES MONDAY NOV. 9TH AT 8AM
I’ve been part of the Concert Series committee since Fall 2014. I design the posters and help out with social media and postering. Designing posters is my creative outlet for stress and homework. I also really like seeing and touching my “artwork” around campus.
While not everyone on the committee has the same taste in music, we eventually pull together a lineup that the masses enjoys. You wouldn’t believe how expensive singers and bands could get until you work behind the scenes on the organizing side of concerts.
TEEN + Laser Background f u c s show
Bi-Co students had quite a selection of parties to attend this Halloween weekend. On Bryn Mawr’s campus, there was a party in Radnor and a party in the Campus Center. At Haverford’s campus, a party in Founders and a f u c s concert in James House. I chose the f u c s show in James House on Friday night.
Friday Nights in the Bi-Co: f u c s show
I don’t usually hit up Haverford for their parties, but when I’m there on a weekend at night, I’m probably there for a f u c s show.
The federation united concert series is a Haverford College student run concert series that brings in underground and up and coming bands to perform in Lunt Basement (and sometimes James House). Since they are at Haverford, their events spread by word of mouth on the Bryn Mawr campus, or by facebook.
