This past weekend, Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series hosted David Neumann / Advanced Beginner Group’s production of “I Understand Everything Better.” The dance-based /theater performance was inspired by the death of Neumann’s father during Hurricane Sandy. Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series: Wintry Mix

On Friday January 27, the Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series presented the first of two unique Wintry Mix shows. Wintry Mix is a performance festival of theater, dance, video, and music. The concept behind the design is to allow multiple artists to showcase their work across genres and traditional boundaries. The Friday lineup consisted Chelsea and Magda (everybodygetinthecar.com), David Brick (headlong.org), Jenna Horton (jennahorton.com), Sam Tower (samtower-ensemble.org), Peter Rose (peterrosepicture.com/), Chlamydia Dell-Arte, and closed with a set by Japanese Breakfast (michellezauner.bandcamp.com). Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton

Legendary singer and 2-time Grammy winner Lisa Fischer graced Bryn Mawr College two times this week. First was on the movie screen in the documentary “20 Feet From Stardom” showing hosted by the Provost’s Office and the Sociology Department on Thursday December 1. Philadanco Performance Review

Last Friday September 23, Philadanco Dance Company graced the Bryn Mawr College Goodhart stage with four distinct pieces by four different choreographers. Performing for a full house audience of Tri-Co faculty/staff/students and community members, Philadanco danced Labess, Hand Singing Song, Between The Lines, and Enemy Behind the Gates. The event was presented by the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series as the opener to their 2016-2017 season as well as a participating event in the Fringe Festival 2016.

Philadanco Master Class

Today, Philadanco led a free open master class open in Bryn Mawr College’s Pembroke studio. Philadanco, also known as the Philadelphia Dance Company, will perform tomorrow night Friday, September 23 at 8pm in Goodhart as part of the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series. The performance is also part of Fringe Festival 2016. The Bryn Mawr College Dance Program has a partnership with the Performing Arts Series for hosting master classes with the visiting dance artists. This is a wonderful opportunity for Tri-Co students to interact with and learn from word class artists.IMG_5178 Continue reading

Getting Ready for Spring Dance Concert 2016

This week is tech week for the Bryn Mawr College Dance Department’s Annual Spring Dance Concert. Bryn Mawr and Haverford dancers, faculty choreographers, and theater lighting and backstage managers all work together to prepare for the show this weekend April 23 & 24 in Goodhart. It is a stressful and tiring time of the year, including schoolwork, but we somehow manage to get through 3 hour rehearsals, costume fittings, lighting design, getting used to stage spacing, etc…
