This post is a culmination of going out to Philadelphia over the weekend of Friday April 14 – Saturday April 15. With so little time left in undergrad and uncertainty of where I’ll end up postgrad (NYC? Philly? Wisconsin? Connecticut?), there’s no time better than now to explore Philadelphia! Thank you to my shared monthly SEPTA pass and my close Mawrter friends for all the fun times (and all the ups and downs of college). Continue reading

AMF & Friends Happy Hour
Yesterday after my internship at Center for Asian Health, I attended a Happy Hour event hosted by Asian Mosaic Fund (AMF). I was invited to an AMF gathering last semester and liked the people there. Aside from philanthropic giving, I want to get more involved and connect with the Asian American community in Philadelphia. The happy hour was hosted at Johnnie Walker Lounge in Chinatown Square, and attendees got to learn more about AMF and enjoy discounts on food and drinks. The event also highlighted the work of past grantee organization Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC). Continue reading
A Bryn Mawr Birthday Party
Who says parties at a women’s college can’t be fun?!? No one. On Saturday night, my close friend and two of her friends hosted a joint birthday party in the Rhoads Common Room. The three of them (all seniors) have April birthdays and were turning 22. With some themed decorations, they turned the common room (which is beautiful already because we go to school in a castle) into a dance floor with tables on the side filled with chips, drinks, and a cake. Continue reading
Spring Break 2017
I didn’t go anywhere tropical or far enough to board an airplane this Spring Break, but that did not stop me from having a pretty packed week with friends and family. Here’s the recap… Continue reading
Another Night Out in Philly
After the Bryn Mawr Performing Arts Series event, my friend Joy Chan (’17) and I went into the city for a friend date. Joy knows the city very well as she currently lives there with her sister this semester teaching full time and commuting to Bryn Mawr for classes. She took me to my first oyster bar and my first Franklin Fountain ice cream.
Senior Cocktails #2: Deep Sea
Senior Cocktails #2 of the year happened Friday December 2nd in Erdman Common Room. The theme was Deep Sea / Under the Sea, and class presidents Priyanka Dutta and Hannah Henderson-Charnow once again delivered a spectacular party. They spent hours prior to the party decorating the plain common room according to the theme. There were inflatable whales and a swan, multiple backdrops with lights and streamers, “squids” made from suspended umbrellas and string, and an excellent selection of snacks and drinks. The Senior Mentality: Class, Colloquium, and … Cocktails
I think many seniors can agree with me that senior year is our one last time to do the things we love at Bryn Mawr College. This includes trying new things, whether that means taking a class outside your major, going out into Philadelphia more often, making new friends, or finally getting around to taking advantage of Bryn Mawr’s resources. Senior year is our victory lap, and you bet we are going to celebrate from time to time. Enter in Senior Cocktails, a themed “classy” party organized by our class presidents multiple times throughout the year. Last Saturday October 1 was the first senior cocktail of the year. The theme was “Starry Night” and many seniors showed up to have some fun. Continue reading
All Access Philadelphia Concert
Last Saturday night, I attended All Access Philadelphia at the Electric Factory, a free concert supporting abortion rights and access. The event combined live performances and DJ sets with educational facts about abortion and personal story video clips. There were even nonprofit organizations like Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and Women’s Medical Fund where concert goers could sign up to volunteer or learn more about women’s reproductive health policy. The lineup included Rye Rye, Tunde Olaniran, Rocky Rivera, Joie Kathos, and Pinkwash with DJ sets by DJ Diamond Kuts, DJ NiiLO (Bryn Mawr alum), DJ Kash. Continue reading
In The Swing Of Things
Yesterday was Fall Frolic, which means it’s time for student clubs and activities (and academic work) to get in full swing. This was actually the first time since my first year at Bryn Mawr that I didn’t have to table for a club. In the past, I have tabled for both the Asian Students Association and for Choom Boom K-Pop Dance Club. This time, I walked by the club booths and ate the brownies served by Erdman. Signing up for a student club is an excellent way to meet new friends and explore new hobbies. Although I didn’t sign up for many new clubs because of time constraints, I couldn’t wait to see who would join clubs I was already part of. (If you missed Fall Frolic, you can join club listservs here.)
